Clear guidance for vehicles believed to be lost, left, or abandoned on private property or in our custody. Processes are photo-verified in TowBook, with itemized records and ordinance-aligned steps.
If Your Vehicle Is Missing
Confirm custody — Provide plate or VIN to dispatch so we can verify location, fees-to-date, and any holds.
Report theft if applicable — If you suspect theft, file a police report and share the case number.
Prepare documents — Bring photo ID and proof of ownership (registration or title; lender/insurer letter if needed).
Release & pickup — Pay the itemized balance (tow, storage, permitted fees). If not roadworthy, arrange a tow from the lot.
Personal property: No belongings are released prior to vehicle release. Exception: clearly labeled prescription medications may be retrieved by staff with matching ID and label, logged in TowBook.
Vehicles Left on Private Property (Property Managers / HOAs / Businesses)
We provide a compliant Abandoned Vehicle & Nuisance Program to clear spaces and reduce liability:
Parking review & policy setup (what qualifies as abandoned/inoperable; sticker/tow rules)
Notice process for non-immediate issues (e.g., 48-hour stickers if your policy requires it)
Photo-verified documentation (signage, plate/VIN, position, timestamps)
Authorization workflow per ordinance (owner/authorized agent approval)
Impound intake with condition photos and itemized records
Monthly reports for audit and dispute prevention
Common triggers: no plates, flat/removed wheels, wrecked/inoperable, excessive dust/tags, long-term storage in violation of posted rules, blocking EV chargers/fire lanes/ADA.
When a Vehicle Is Deemed Abandoned in Our Custody
If a vehicle is towed to our lot and no owner contacts us, we proceed with an unclaimed/abandoned workflow consistent with local requirements:
Certified notices to titled owner/lienholder when required
Waiting periods and storage accrual begin at lot intake
Public posting/auction steps if the vehicle remains unclaimed
Lien/transfer documents completed per process
Our records include TowBook photos, timestamps, and all mailings/attempted contacts to support the file.
Fees & Storage (Transparency)
Tow fee — based on service type, distance, and equipment used
Storage — daily from time of lot intake; itemized on your receipt
After-hours gate/release — when permitted and requested
Special equipment — dollies, winching, recovery, or other documented services
Taxes — applied where required
Payment methods: major cards and cash. No personal checks. You receive an itemized, time-stamped receipt.
Clear Limits (Scope & Safety)
We service light- and many medium-duty vehicles—anything heavier than an F-150 up to and including an F-450 (weight/access dependent). Heavy-duty is out of scope.
EV/Hybrid handling follows manufacturer guidance (transport/ship modes; no wheel dragging).
No hazmat spill response; no water/ice rescues.
Owner Claim Checklist (Copy & Paste)
Government photo ID
Registration/title, or insurer/lienholder letter tying you to the VIN
Police/insurance release (if applicable)
Payment for all charges
Keys/fob (if available). If the vehicle isn’t roadworthy, schedule a tow from the lot.
