EV & Hybrid Towing in Louisville, KY

Electric and hybrid vehicles need specialized handling, not guesswork. Flatbed transport, manufacturer transport modes, and no-drag procedures protect the motors, inverters, battery pack, and cooling system.

What we tow

  • Battery-electric vehicles: Tesla, Rivian, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Kia and Hyundai EVs, Volkswagen ID models.
  • Plug-in hybrids: Wrangler 4xe, RAV4 Prime, Pacifica Hybrid, and similar.
  • Conventional hybrids: the Prius family, Escape Hybrid, Accord and CR-V Hybrid.

Why an EV can't just be dragged

On most electric vehicles the drive wheels are permanently connected to the motor. Rolling them with the motor engaged turns it into a generator, which can feed current back into a system that isn't expecting it and damage the drive unit. That's why nearly every manufacturer specifies flatbed transport with all four wheels off the ground.

  • Flatbed first: all four wheels off the ground is the default for every EV we move.
  • Transport or tow mode engaged per the manufacturer's procedure before the vehicle is winched.
  • Correct tow points and eyelets — many EVs have a single threaded recovery point rather than a frame rail.
  • High-voltage awareness: no cutting, no improvised disconnects, and damaged packs treated as a hazard.
  • Dollies used only when a flatbed physically cannot reach the vehicle, and only where the manufacturer allows it.

If the vehicle has been in a collision

Damaged battery packsA damaged high-voltage pack can re-ignite hours after an incident. Tell dispatch immediately if there was a fire, if the pack is visibly damaged, or if the vehicle is smoking or hissing — that changes where the vehicle can be stored and how it's transported.

What to expect, step by step

  1. 1Dispatch intake: we confirm your location, the vehicle, its condition, and any access notes — parking garage, gated community, highway shoulder.
  2. 2An honest ETA based on current traffic and truck load, and an update from us if anything changes.
  3. 3Arrival and assessment: the driver walks the vehicle, takes photos, and picks the safest load method for it.
  4. 4Securement with soft straps, wheel nets, and frame-safe points. No hook-it-anywhere shortcuts.
  5. 5Transport by insured drivers who respect speed, spacing, and weather while your vehicle is on the deck.
  6. 6Drop-off proof: photo confirmation, an itemized invoice, and clear directions to your vehicle if you need them.

Documentation you can actually use

  • Time-stamped photos: pre-load condition, hookup points, plate and VIN, and drop-off confirmation.
  • Ordinance-aligned: our processes are built around LMCO and the relevant KRS requirements for Louisville and Bullitt County.
  • Itemized receipts: clear service descriptions and timestamps, ready for insurance, an employer, or a property manager.

Frequently asked questions

Can you tow a Tesla?
Yes. Teslas go on a flatbed with transport mode engaged. If the vehicle has no power at all and transport mode can't be enabled, there's a documented procedure for that too.
Can you use a wheel-lift on my EV?
Only if the manufacturer permits it and a flatbed genuinely cannot reach the vehicle, and then only with dollies so the drive wheels never turn. Flatbed is the default.
My EV is dead and won't come out of Park. Now what?
Most EVs have a manual release or a jump point for the 12-volt system that restores enough power to shift. The driver will work through the manufacturer's procedure before resorting to skates.
